Update!

AIIM will be offering 6 CRM credits for attendance at the Social Business Conference. For those participants planning to attend the Ottawa in-person event hosted at the OpenText facilities, we’ll ensure that you have the opportunity to log-in, and we’ll report back on your attendance to AIIM HQ. You must register for the conference at the AIIM event site before RSVP’ing to the local in-person event. More on the CRM credit eligibility here:  AIIM FAQ.

On September 8, AIIM is hosting a stellar lineup of speakers in what they’re calling the Social Business Virtual Conference. Some world-class thinkers and doers – the analysts, pundits and practitioners will be discussing Strategies, Governance and real world Use Cases.

Now, the idea of a “virtual” conference is awesome. It means top-notch presenters from across North America and Europe at an extremely reasonable cost. A low carbon footprint event is a winner in my books…

But the most successful conferences I’ve ever attended, spoke at or helped organize always had a pervasive theme in the feedback notes: “the in-person networking was the most valuable part of the event…”

We who work in the ECM / IM / Enterprise 2.0 / Social Business space have been talking about the rise of Social, Local and Mobile for business communication for a couple of years now. Honestly, though… we tend to fixate on the Social and Mobile. Well… I’m ready to focus on “Local”.

The Ottawa branch of the AIIM First Canadian chapter is really excited to host an in-person supporting event for the AIIM Social Business virtual conference. We are inviting all local registrants for the online conference to join us for comfy chairs, big screens, coffee, tea and snacks, good conversation and debate on September 8.

We’re very grateful that OpenText has generously offered the use of their new, state-of-the-art downtown Ottawa facilities to let us stream the 3 virtual tracks simultaneously.  We thank OpenText for their hospitality and for demonstrating their commitment to not only Social Business, but the ECM and IM community in the National Capital Region.

Wanna come join us? It’s a 2-step registration process.

#1 – Register for the AIIM Social Business Conference directly at the AIIM site. There is a registration fee of $95. Here is the link: https://www.aiim.org/Events/SOE-Conference/Register

#2 – RSVP for the in-person event at OpenText on 10 Rideau Street, 6th floor. Registration starts at 10:30am, so we’re all settled for the event 11am online keynote. Here’s the local Ottawa RSVP signup (no extra cost): http://aiimfccsept8.eventbrite.com/

Let’s support the local – network with peers, fellow practitioners, meet interesting people from the vendor and consulting community. Great ideas and success stories are meant to be shared. The September 8 event is a great opportunity to do this.

See you then!
